District residents Dimiuan Paul Jackson and Robert Leroy Barnes, both 24, were arrested this week following an early morning investigation and subsequent chase after being busted breaking into cars, according to the sheriff's office.

Shortly after 4:20 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 14, officers were called to the area of Cave Creek Court in Waldorf, where suspicious suspects were seen breaking into cars.

Their shenanigans were just beginning.

As officers approached, a spokesperson from the Charles County Sheriff's Office said that one suspect got into a Honda SUV - which was reported stolen in La Plata - and sped away, ignoring their commands.

During that pursuit, officers attempted to stop the Honda, but the driver continued to flee, and during that chase, a Hyundai - later determined to also be stolen from Virginia - attempted to get in between the officers and Honda "in what appeared to be an attempt to help the Honda escape."

Officers then used stop sticks, which both vehicles struck, investigators said, and the Honda became disabled and stopped on the shoulder of Mattawoman Beantown Road.

They were still just getting started.

The driver jumped out of the Honda and onto the hood of the Hyundai that stopped briefly nearby, and was able to maneuver his way inside the vehicle, which became disabled near Coventry Way in Prince George’s County.

Four suspects scattered out of the Hyundai, investigators say, and attempted to flee on foot.

Jackson and Barnes were both apprehended.

According to the sheriff's office, officers recovered a semi-automatic firearm with an extended magazine inside one of the vehicles, and review of surveillance video linked the pair from DC to thefts in Sheffield and in various locations in La Plata.

Both men were charged with theft, trespassing, and other related offenses. Each was released after their initial court appearances.
